Disaster Relief

LIFECHURCH CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)

We are excited to offer emergency response training to people who are interested in becoming part of a team that will respond to the members of our community should an emergency situation arise. We are currently in the process of teaching our first session. Unfortunately, no new sign-ups can be received at this time. Sessions consist of four, five-hour classes; a full, twenty hours of training are necessary to complete the certification process.

The schedule of dates, times, and locations for our current session in progress are as follows:

January 14   9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at LIFECHURCH (1416 Larkin Williams Rd. Fenton, MO 63026)
January 28   9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at LIFECHURCH (1416 Larkin Williams Rd. Fenton, MO 63026)
February 11  9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at LIFECHURCH (1416 Larkin Williams Rd. Fenton, MO 63026)
February 25  9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at the Fenton Fire Dept. (845 Gregory Ln., Fenton, MO 63026)

There will also be a make-up day for anyone that cannot make one of the four scheduled classes (maximum of one missed class). It will be on Saturday, February 18, from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., at the Fenton Fire Dept.

LIFECHURCH and the Fenton Fire Dept. are very excited to offer this opportunity. We know that this will allow local citizens and church members alike to make an impact on our community. These classes are only the beginning of what we, as a team, will be doing together to make a difference by helping our community become more prepared for an unexpected disaster. We can’t wait to meet you at the first class!

A Recap of Our Trip to Joplin

As you know, LIFECHURCH has been collecting donations for Joplin since the tornado ravaged their town on Sunday, May 22, 2011. Our drive for donations ended on Tuesday, June 7. As we stood in the midst of all the items that were received, we were amazed. It was quite a blessing to see such an outpouring of Christ's love as reflected by the mounds of donations spread across our lobby. Many donations came from our church family, but some also came from contacts in the community, including Sachs Electric and Unigroup. Altogether, we collected 10 pallets—approximately 7,500 pounds—of water, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. The donations completely filled the truck that was made available to us!

After we finished receiving donations, an awesome team of approximately 20 volunteers showed up in the church lobby to help us load the donations onto pallets, shrink wrap the contents, then load the pallets onto the truck. Then, on Wednesday, June 8, over 40 volunteers showed up (at 4:00 a.m. no less!!!) to caravan down to Joplin and serve the people there for the day.

While in Joplin, the LIFECHURCH team served from morning well into the evening. Some people helped serve meals to volunteers and victims. Some volunteers prayed with people and listened to the amazing survival stories that were being shared by storm victims. One group helped families shop for supplies at the supply tents. Another group used chainsaws to clear fallen trees, while others cleaned up all kinds of debris. Altogether, there were eight LIFECHURCH teams dispersed on the ground in Joplin and impacting lives in the name of Christ.

Due to the generous financial outpouring, were happy to be able to present a $3,500 check to College Heights Christian Church (CHCC) so they could continue to their ongoing relief efforts after we had gone. CHCC paid our team such a wonderful compliment, saying we were one of the most organized, delightful, helpful crews who had come to volunteer yet. Our team was also featured on a few local news stations and commended by the American Red Cross, National Guard, and even some players from the St. Louis Cardinals. What an amazing day...and all for HIS glory! Thank you to all who donated supplies, finances, time, and prayers.
